On October 7, 2023, at approximately 12:45 PM, officers responded to a disturbance call at 3640 S Fulton Ave. The complainant, Lakeisha Sanders, reported that she had been attacked by her partner, Tony Lavonte Walton. Sanders described Walton as a 35-year-old black male wearing a light grey jogger suit and a skull cap. Upon arrival, officers observed a male matching this description running south on S Fulton Ave and engaged in a short foot pursuit before apprehending him. Walton, later identified as the subject of the disturbance, was handcuffed and placed in the rear of a patrol vehicle after a check for proper fit and double locking of the handcuffs. Sanders explained that a verbal argument escalated when they were in the car, and continued when they entered the apartment's garage. She stated that Walton grabbed her arms and shoved her against the wall. Although they have been together for nearly three years, Sanders confirmed that this type of violence was not typical of their relationship.
