It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: Police responded to a crash on Ocean Avenue. It happened near Linden Avenue around 10:49 PM. A 2013 Honda struck a parked 2008 Pontiac. Patrolman Joshua Chambers met the Honda's driver. She was Alison Singer. Patrolman Peter McGovern also arrived. He talked with Alison while Chambers spoke to the Pontiac owner. Alison admitted to drinking earlier. Suspecting impairment, officers called Patrolman Mania. He arrived to give sobriety tests. Alison said she was leaving a bar. She admitted to drinking four glasses of wine. The first test checked eye movements. Patrolman Mania noted abnormal eye twitches. He did not see vertical eye movements. Next was the walk and turn test. Alison failed to walk heel-to-toe. She did not count her steps. She also did not turn correctly. The last test was standing on one foot. Alison lost her balance trying this. Based on the crash, alcohol smell, and failed tests, Alison was arrested. Patrolman Mania charged her with drunk driving. John's Law meant her car was held for 12 hours. Patrolman Mania took Alison to the police station. Patrolman Mania read Alison a standard statement. She agreed to breathe tests. Sergeant Bumbico ran the Alcotest. Her BAC was 0.276%. This is more than three times the legal limit. After processing, her husband picked her up. He signed paperwork before her court date. Patrolman McGovern gave Alison tickets. These included driving under the influence. He also cited her for reckless and careless driving.
