On February 3, 2024, Berea Police Officer Douglas observed a vehicle traveling 52 miles per hour in a 35-mph zone. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and quickly observed an open bottle of alcohol by the feet of the passenger. Officer Valencic interviewed the driver, who admitted to drinking 2 shots. She then stated that she was 21-years-old, but she didn't have her driver's license with her. A computer check using her social security number revealed she was actually 20-years-old. She was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests and was eventually arrested for having physical control of a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. She was transported to the Berea police station and submitted to an evidential breath test. Her exact blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was not revealed, but she was charged with having a BAC over 0.17%. A 3rd charge of speeding was tacked on for good measure. The outcome of her case is revealed at the end of the video.
