On June 21, 2025, officers with the Los Alamos Police Department conducted a traffic stop on 22-year-old Eric Greene after he failed to properly stop at a stop/yield intersection in Los Alamos, New Mexico. What began as a routine traffic violation quickly escalated when officers noticed clear signs of impairment. Greene appeared unsteady, smelled of alcohol, and gave inconsistent answers to basic questions. During the investigation, officers observed an open alcohol container inside the vehicle, leading to further probable cause. After Greene stepped out for field sobriety testing, additional indicators of intoxication were observed. A search of the vehicle revealed two controlled substances, resulting in multiple possession charges. Greene was arrested and charged with: • Operating a vehicle under the influence • Two counts of possession of a controlled substance • Open container violation • Vehicle entering a stop/yield intersection This video highlights how quickly a routine traffic stop can turn into a full DUI and narcotics arrest. It also serves as a reminder of the risks and consequences of impaired driving.
