Charlotte County, Florida – On January 13, 2026, deputies responded to a Walmart following a reported burglary involving a man allegedly livestreaming on TikTok as part of a 24-hour overnight challenge. Dispatch advised deputies that a male was reportedly hiding inside the store and livestreaming from the dog bed section. When deputies arrived, Walmart staff said they were unaware that anyone remained inside the store. Deputies entered through a side grocery entrance and searched the area described by the caller. Deputies located a man hiding between dog beds while actively recording on his phone. He was instructed to come out of the aisle and was placed in handcuffs while deputies investigated the situation. The store manager agreed to pursue charges and requested that the man be issued a trespass warning from the property. After being read his Miranda Rights, which he said he understood, the man told deputies he believed he could make money from TikTok views and had decided to attempt a 24-hour challenge inside Walmart. He also admitted to taking an iPhone charger. The man was arrested and charged with petit theft and burglary of an occupied structure.
