On November 15, 2025, during the late afternoon, California Highway Patrol officers assisted with a traffic stop along northbound U.S. Highway 101 near Humboldt Road in Del Norte County. According to official reports, a Del Norte County Sheriff’s deputy observed a silver Ford Bronco traveling at a high rate of speed while repeatedly drifting onto the shoulder of the roadway and briefly veering toward patrol vehicles before correcting back into the lane. The SUV was safely stopped without further incident. When officers made contact with the driver, they reported observing indicators of possible alcohol impairment, including the smell of an alcoholic beverage, red and watery eyes, slurred speech, and visible nervousness. The driver stated she had consumed alcohol earlier in the day. Standardized field sobriety tests were then administered. Officers noted the driver stepped off the line during the walk-and-turn test, failed to maintain heel-to-toe contact, raised her arms for balance, swayed while standing, and dropped her foot during the one-leg stand test. A preliminary breath test conducted at the scene produced results of approximately .247% and .242%. A later chemical breath test recorded a blood alcohol concentration of approximately .22%. The driver was taken into custody and booked into the Del Norte County Jail on the following charges: • CVC 23152(a) — Driving under the influence of alcohol • CVC 23152(b) — Driving with a BAC of 0.08% or greater • CVC 23578 — High BAC enhancement (0.15% or higher) All persons are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. #police #cops #california #bodycam #delnorte #dui
