Narrative Report – Arrest of Christian A. Pinkney Date/Time of Incident: May 20, 2021, at approximately 2:18 AM Location: Carrollton, GA Arresting Officer: J. Perry (#218) Arresting Agency: Carrollton Police Department Case Number: 21051972 On May 20, 2021, at approximately 2:18 AM, Officer J. Perry (#218) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by Christian A. Pinkney due to an expired registration tag. During the stop, Mr. Pinkney explained that he had recently completed his vehicle emissions inspection but had not yet traveled to Gwinnett County to obtain a new tag. While speaking with Mr. Pinkney, Officer Perry detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. When asked if he had been smoking, Mr. Pinkney admitted to being a marijuana user but claimed there were no drugs currently in the vehicle. Officer Perry then inquired about the presence of any weapons, to which the suspect replied there were none. Officer Perry requested consent to search the vehicle, and although Mr. Pinkney appeared hesitant, he ultimately agreed. During the search, Officer Perry located a small bag of marijuana, several THC-infused gummies in packaging, and a Ziploc bag containing suspected ecstasy pills. No weapons were found. Mr. Pinkney was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Carroll County Jail for processing. Mr. Pinkney, identified as a student at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, GA, declined to answer further questions regarding the origin of the narcotics and ceased cooperating during the questioning phase. He was charged with two counts of VGCSA – Possession of Schedule I substances and Possession of Marijuana (less than one ounce).
