On September 9, 2025, West Palm Beach police responded to the Hilton on Okeechobee Boulevard after two men allegedly refused to pay their bill. According to the probable cause affidavit, the hotel’s assistant general manager told officers the men had ordered drinks and then asked for the bill. But when the check arrived, one of the men allegedly asked to have the charge placed on a tab, claiming his bank card was locked and he would call police if the hotel wouldn’t allow it. The report says their order included two Maker’s Mark drinks and a Coke, bringing the total to $58.42. When officers arrived, police reportedly gave the men two options: pay the bill or go to jail. One allegedly said he didn’t have any money, while the other again claimed he couldn’t pay because his bank card was locked. Neither man paid, and according to the affidavit, both were arrested and charged with defrauding an innkeeper under $1,000.
