On April 8, 2023, in Waukesha, Wisconsin, an on duty officer initiated a traffic stop after discovering a vehicles registered owner had a suspended license via a license plate search. According to reports, as soon as the window was rolled down, the unmistakable scent of marijuana "blasted [him] in the face". After asking some questions, the vehicle sped away from officers and a pursuit was initiated. Stop sticks were deployed multiple times and successfully disable the vehicle after an approximately 20 mile chase. Both occupants exited the vehicle and fled on foot in different directions. Multiple officers went in both directions to catch the suspects. A K-9 was deployed and eventually, both suspects were arrested. A probably cause search was conducted on the vehicle. Officers located a large bag of marijuana along with multiple smaller bags, totaling 245 grams. Charles, the passenger, was charged with resisting or obstructing an officer, possession with intent THC, and maintain drug trafficking place.
