Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: At about 1:47 AM on February 5, 2023, Athens-Clarke County Officer Zachary Davis saw a 2016 Mercedes-Benz drift over the fog line on S Milledge Avenue near Riverbend Road. He turned on his lights, and the driver pulled over near the UGA Softball Stadium entrance. Davis spoke with the driver and her passenger. The driver said she did not have her license. Police later identified her as 20-year-old Rachel Ferguson. Her passenger was Elizabeth Coffin. Davis told Rachel he had seen her commit several traffic violations. As they spoke, he smelled alcohol on her breath. Rachel said she was heading home after picking up a friend in downtown Athens. Davis asked her to leave the car and perform field sobriety tests because he still smelled alcohol. During the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test, Davis saw that Rachel's eyes did not move smoothly. He also observed clear nystagmus at maximum deviation, with the movement beginning before 45 degrees. She showed no vertical nystagmus. On the Walk and Turn test, Rachel failed to touch heel-to-toe as directed and took too many steps. During the One-Leg Stand, she ignored the instructions and took long steps instead of raising one foot. Her uneven driving, alcohol odor, and poor test results led to her arrest for DUI. Davis then read her the Georgia Implied Consent Notice, and she agreed to provide breath samples. At the station, Sergeant Dieball administered the breath test. Rachel told him she worked as a bartender at Moonshine Bar & Grill. Her BAC measured 0.161%, more than twice the 0.08% legal limit for drivers over 21. Police took Rachel to Clarke County Jail for booking. Along the way, another officer reported finding a fake ID inside her Mercedes.
