Dashcam and body-worn camera footage captured a rare and dramatic moment in New Mexico, when an off-duty New Mexico State Police officer was arrested during a DUI traffic stop. What began as a routine observation of erratic driving quickly escalated into an arrest that stunned even seasoned deputies. According to investigators, officers later reported finding a partially consumed bottle of vodka inside the vehicle. The officer refused chemical testing and was taken into custody. She now faces multiple charges, including aggravated DWI, driving the wrong way, open container, and resisting or evading an officer. Following the arrest, the officer was placed on administrative leave. New Mexico State Police Chief Troy Weisler stated that the conduct “does not reflect the values and integrity of the New Mexico State Police,” adding that “those who dishonor this badge have no place in our agency.” The officer later resigned. This bodycam footage offers a rare look at accountability in law enforcement — showing that the same rules apply to everyone, regardless of badge or position.
