*20:42-Officer tells pursuit suspect "Get on the Ground Boy!" In addition to numerous charges, the suspect was charged with Animal Cruelty, due to a dog being in his vehicle....GREAT JOB!* On 08/04/2026 at 1525 hours, Officer Lambert conducted a traffic stop at 205 W. Martin St. While driving Southbound on North First St. I observed a silver SUV bearing ARLPN BJH43L to have an unsecured license plate with expired tags expiring on 05/31/2026. I activated my emergency lights stopping the vehicle at 205 W Martin St. The driver identified as Antonio Johnson but was later identified as Antoine Pennington. Pennington told me he did not have insurance on the vehicle. The passenger of the vehicle was identified as Jacqualla Norfleet. The name provided by the driver showed a return with felony convictions for possession of controlled substance and a search waiver on file. Norfleet's return showed active warrants out of multiple jurisdictions. Both Pennington and Norfleet exhibited signs of nervous behavior. Pennington’s hands were shaking, he talked in quick answers that made little sense, and he repeatedly looked back towards the patrol vehicles. Norfleet constantly looked back at officers and appeared restless. I reapproached the vehicle to make both the driver and passenger exit the vehicle subject to search. I instructed Pennington to exit the vehicle. Pennington put the vehicle in drive and sped across the parking lot, dropping off Norfleet. Pennington then ran over the curb and drove eastbound on West Martin St. I pursued Pennington eastbound onto N First St, northbound onto Vandenburg, then westbound onto John Harden Dr. Where Pennington merged onto I57 Southbound. Pennington drove southbound on I57 until exit 1 where he exited the interstate entering the parking lot of McCain Mall. Pennington exited the shopping center and drove through a series of residential streets and neighborhoods. Pennington was stopped by ASP Trooper A22 near the 500 block of Lindenhurst Ave. in North Little Rock. Trooper Medford approached the vehicle at a slow rate of speed and used his vehicle to stop the fleeing vehicle. During the pursuit Pennington reached speeds of 108 miles per hour and exhibited reckless driving behavior to include swearing into and out of lanes of traffic, cutting across medians, and fleeing at high rate of speeds through multiple parking lots. After the vehicle came to a stop, Pennington exited the vehicle through the passenger window in an attempt to flee. Pennington was ordered to the ground at gunpoint. I placed Pennington into handcuffs. Antoine stated he had given his brother's name (Antonio Johnson) due to being scared. Pennington stated he had two firearms on his person. Both firearms, a Smith and Wesson SD40 VE and a SCCY CPX-2 were taken from Pennington and placed into property for safekeeping.
