At the scene, officers recovered multiple shell casings and learned from witnesses that a suspect had fired several rounds from a vehicle, striking an occupied residence. Through the course of their investigation, officers identified both the suspect and the vehicle involved. Further inquiry revealed that the suspect was likely armed and also connected to a recent robbery case. Later that evening, at approximately 11:28 p.m., officers located the suspect vehicle in the 1100 block of S. 18th Street and initiated contact with its occupants. The front-seat passenger was identified as the suspect from the earlier shooting. When officers attempted to arrest him, the suspect resisted and fired a round from a handgun in close proximity to them. In response, one officer discharged his firearm, striking the suspect. Officers on scene immediately provided life-saving medical aid and called for emergency medical services. The suspect was transported to HSHS St. John’s Hospital, where he remains in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries. A handgun was recovered from the suspect, and a spent shell casing was found at the scene. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Business Email - ystudios00@gmail.com
