On May 5, 2024, around 8:53 PM, an officer of the Hanover Township Police Department was dispatched to 97 Parsippany Road for an overturned vehicle that had struck two JCP&L utility poles. He found a gray 2023 Kia Forte overturned with wires down across the scene and shut down surrounding roads. The driver told officers she was rushing to a first date and had lost control. She admitted to drinking tequila and smoking marijuana earlier that day and to answering a phone message just before the crash. After field sobriety exercises, she was arrested and later gave a blood sample under a warrant. Reported charges: Operating under the influence (N.J.S.A. 39:4-50); reckless driving (N.J.S.A. 39:4-96); careless driving (N.J.S.A. 39:4-97); use of a hand-held wireless telephone while driving (N.J.S.A. 39:4-97.3); failure to keep to marked lanes (N.J.S.A. 39:4-88).
