Featuring Troop L Corporal R. Schwab (L-16) attempts to stop a speeding motorcyclist, the vehicle flees. Trooper First Class R. Aiken responds from his nearby home and takes over primary. Trooper In Training Caleb Miller is in L-16's passenger seat. Police Report: On July 18th at approximately 7:55 p.m. I was stationary on I-49 southbound in the median near exit 78. While stationary southbound I observed a black motorcycle approaching me from the rear at what appeared to be a high rate of speed. I activated my rear antenna radar and received a clear doppler tone of 89 mph in a 70 mph zone. I pulled out from my location and got in behind the rider. I waited approximately one mile before activating my emergency lights to ensure a safe location for the vehicle to stop. I activated my emergency lights on I-49 southbound near exit 76. After activating my emergency lights, the suspect immediately began accelerating traveling southbound. At this time he appeared to be fleeing at a high rate of speed. I activated my sirens and notified my dispatch that I was in pursuit of the motorcycle. The suspect was actively fleeing at this time traveling southbound on I-49. Speeds reached approximately 123 mph, and he was driving in and out of traffic with no regard for his safety or others. After passing the Johnson exit (exit 69) TFC. Alan Aiken took over the pursuit with a marked unit. The suspect attempted to exit at the 67B (Fulbright) exit exceeding 100 mph. The suspect was unable to negotiate the curve and left the roadway on the left side. The suspect was ejected from the motorcycle, and collided with at least two trees in a wooded area. After the collision TFC. Aiken, Trp. Caleb Miller, and myself walked down into the wooded area to check on the suspect. The suspect at this time was not breathing, and had discoloration on his skin due to no oxygen. EMS was notified and was in route. I immediately started chest compressions in an attempt to revive the suspect. After approximately 30-45 seconds of chest compressions, the suspect began breathing and regained a natural skin tone. When EMS arrived on scene they transported the subject to Washington Regional to receive medical attention. While with the subject in close contact I could smell a strong odor of intoxicants coming from his person. I completed a blood search warrant signed by Judge Harper to retrieve blood due to the suspect being possibly intoxicated. The search warrant was executed that night, and a copy of the warrant was left with the suspect. No charges have been brought at this time due to the condition of the suspect. #arkansas #arkansasstatepolice #pitmaneuver #crash #news #policechase #dashcam
