On February 8, 2021; I was on patrol in Fulton County. I was traveling westbound on GA-166 where I observed a blue motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed. I activated my emergency equipment to stop the vehicle westbound on GA-166 near Stanton Road and the rider fled. I notified Troop C Communications of the pursuit as we continued westbound on GA-166 at a high rate of speed. We continued westbound on GA-166 to I-285 where the rider exited and traveled southbound. We continued southbound on I-285 in excess of 140 miles per hour passing traffic on the shoulder of the roadway. We continued around 285 at a high rate of speed to Riverdale Road where TFC Watts became secondary in the pursuit. We pursued the motorcycle on I-285 eastbound to the area of the Conley Road overpass where the rider attempted to pass traffic on the shoulder and struck the median wall and crashed. The rider fled on foot for a short distance before laying on the ground where he was taken into custody without further incident. The driver was identified as John Andrews, a check of Mr. Andrews information returned his license was suspended. During a search of Mr. Andrews person I located two plastic bags containing methamphetamine which Mr. Andrews indicated he was a user of and had previously smoked. A check of the motorcycles VIN returned it was reported stolen by Cobb Police Department. Clayton EMS responded to the scene and cleared Mr. Andrews for transport to jail. South Metro Towing removed the Yamaha. Mr. Andrews was read implied consent for blood to which he refused. He was transported to Clayton County Jail and released to intake personnel.
