He Led Police on a 27-Minute Chase Through Bristol A stolen car. Cloned number plates. A police helicopter overhead. And a pursuit that would continue for 27 minutes across Bristol. In this episode of Bodycam Britain, we follow the pursuit of 47-year-old Bryan Smith after Avon and Somerset Police attempted to stop a vehicle that had been reported stolen. Police said Smith drove through red lights, mounted pavements, avoided attempts to deploy Stingers and reached speeds of up to 80mph in a 30mph zone, while specialist roads policing officers and the National Police Air Service tracked him through southern and central Bristol. The pursuit eventually ended in Fishponds after Smith collided with two members of the public’s vehicles and was arrested. Smith later pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and failing to provide a specimen for analysis. He was sentenced at Bristol Crown Court to 16 months in prison and disqualified from driving for 10 years and eight months.
