On August 22nd, 2023, at around 9:18 AM, Police Officer Socolick, while operating marked squad #21 and using a Lidar Unit, observed a white Jeep exceeding the speed limit on N. Downer Ave. The Lidar Unit recorded the speed at 41 MPH in a 25 MPH zone. Officer Socolick conducted a traffic stop, and upon approaching the driver, Manuel A. GONZALEZ-BONILLA, noticed signs of possible intoxication, including bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and the smell of alcohol on his breath. GONZALEZ-BONILLA provided a false name initially and was unable to recall his date of birth promptly. After verifying GONZALEZ-BONILLA's identity as Manuel A. GONZALEZ-BONILLA, who was on felony probation for OWI (4th Offense) and had a revoked license, Officer Socolick called for backup from Officer Castro. Field sobriety tests were conducted, revealing several signs of impairment, including poor performance on the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN), Walk and Turn, and One Leg Stand tests. A preliminary breath test showed a BAC of .098. GONZALEZ-BONILLA was subsequently arrested for Operating While Intoxicated (5th Offense), Probation Hold, Operating after Revocation, and Resisting/Obstructing an Officer. He was transported to the UWM Police Department and later to Columbia St. Mary's Hospital for a blood draw, where he admitted to using cocaine, marijuana, and alcohol the previous night. The blood sample was sent for testing, and charges were filed, including Operating While Intoxicated (5th Offense), Operating after Revocation (OWI-Related), and Resisting/Obstructing an Officer. The case was presented to the Milwaukee District Attorney's Office for further action. ✅ This video was obtained through Public Records Requests.
