On June 27, 2024, police in Ohio responded to Beachwood Place Mall where Loss prevention agents observed a 22-year-old (at the time of contact) selecting a box of Polo brand shirts valued at $64.50 and concealing them in a brown paper shopping bag before bypassing all points of sale and exiting the store. Upon being stopped by officers, it was discovered that Dunn was in possession of significantly more than just the Polo shirts. Officers found multiple shopping bags containing merchandise from four other mall retailers—H&M, Akira, Carter's, and Forever 21—none of which corresponded to the bags they were carried in. When questioned about receipts, Dunn admitted she did not have them and acknowledged that all the merchandise, totaling over $328 across the five stores, was stolen. She was arrested and charged with Misdemeanor Theft and four counts of Receiving Stolen Property. She was subsequently released on a personal bond with a court hearing scheduled for July 15, 2024. These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. An arrest is not a finding of guilt: that’s something for a court to decide.
