A 25-year-old man from Brooklyn, New York made a bold and reckless move when he walked into VIPawn in Boca Raton, Florida on May 8, 2025 and attempted to purchase an $11,500 Rolex watch using a counterfeit Georgia driver's license and a stolen American Express credit card. What he did not know was that one small detail would immediately raise red flags, he never tried to negotiate the price. Boca Raton Police Department responded to VIPawn located at 485 NE 20th Street after a pawn shop employee reported a suspicious transaction. The employee told officers that the suspect, later identified as Godfrey Aristil, 25, attempted to purchase a luxury Rolex watch without questioning the price at all, a behavior that struck the employee as highly unusual for a high-dollar pawn shop purchase. After the attempted transaction, a witness spotted Aristil walking into a nearby CVS store. Officers moved in and apprehended him inside. During the arrest, police discovered that Aristil was carrying a Georgia driver's license bearing someone else's name but his own photo, a document that quickly came back as invalid. The American Express card he carried matched the same fake name on the license and was also flagged as suspicious. Here is where the story takes a wild turn. When officers questioned Aristil, he admitted that a friend had created both the fake identification and the stolen credit card for him and instructed him to go into the pawn shop and purchase the Rolex. That admission made it clear he was not operating alone. Aristil was charged with possession of a stolen credit card, fraudulent use of a credit card, possession of an ID belonging to another person without their consent, and possession of a forged or stolen driver's license. He was booked into the Palm Beach County jail following his arrest. 👉 Subscribe for more real police bodycam footage, arrests, and criminal investigations.
