#news #police #arrest #cops Offenses: Duty of Driver of Vehicle Meeting or Overtaking School Bus Driving w/o Valid License Report: On 03/04/2022, Officer was patrolling the area of Barnett Shoals near Stroud Road. Officer observed a black SUV in front of me past a school bus that was stopped with its red lights on and stop sign out. The SUV's brake lights went on and it slowed down, but did not stop. This section of Barnett Shoals Road does not have physical divider. Once the school bus moved officer caught up with the black SUV and initiated a traffic stop on it near Dell Drive. Officer identified the driver as Camila Castillo and told her why she was stopped. She stated to the officer that she was diving too fast to stop in time for the bus and she indicated that she saw the red lights on. Ms. Castillo handed over her license and said it was expired. When officer ran her on GCIC he saw she had been expired since 12/09/2020, so about 14 months. Because of how long her license has been expired, Ms. Castillo was considered driving unlicensed since she is required to have it renewed within 31 days per the statute. An acquaintance came and picked up Ms. Castillo vehicle so it didn't have to get towed Her license was confiscated by the officer and will be destroyed due to it being expired. Ms. Castillo was taken into custody and booked in CCSO jail.
