**North Little Rock, Arkansas** — A high-speed police pursuit that began with a silver Chevrolet Equinox traveling at more than 100 mph ended with a PIT maneuver and the arrest of a convicted felon who was allegedly carrying two loaded handguns. On Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at approximately 3:45 p.m., Arkansas State Police Trooper Dustin Medford heard radio traffic regarding a Jacksonville Police Department pursuit involving the Equinox. The vehicle was reportedly traveling south on Interstate 57 at speeds exceeding 100 mph. Trooper Medford was positioned near the southbound on-ramp at the 3-mile marker when he saw the pursuit approaching. He activated his emergency lights and attempted to position himself to perform a tactical vehicle intervention (TVI). However, the suspect, later identified as Antoine Pennington, suddenly swerved off the interstate, crossed the grassy median, and used an on-ramp to avoid the marked ASP patrol unit. The pursuit continued through Warden Road, McCain Boulevard, the McCain Mall area, Lakewood Village, and into the Levy neighborhood of North Little Rock. Officers continued looking for a safe opportunity to stop Pennington, but traffic, hills, curves, terrain, and parked vehicles prevented several earlier TVI attempts. The pursuit eventually entered a residential area, where Pennington slowed enough for Trooper Medford to successfully perform a PIT maneuver. The patrol car made contact with the Equinox, rotating the vehicle across the front of the patrol unit and pinning the driver's side. Pennington then attempted to escape on foot by rapidly exiting through the passenger-side window. However, officers were already positioned in front of him, and he surrendered. According to the report, Pennington was taken into custody while allegedly in possession of **two loaded handguns despite being a convicted felon**. Pennington was transported to the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility and charged accordingly. The report states that there was **no damage to Arkansas State Police units or bystander vehicles**. All charges are allegations unless proven guilty in court.
