On the morning of June 13, 2024, a woman in Grove City, Ohio, was taken from her home by her ex-boyfriend, Quinntel Bagley, a registered sex offender who had served ten years for a previous kidnapping. Police found her at a gas station about three hours later. Bagley was arrested that morning and taken to a hospital in Lancaster. THE ESCAPE As two Grove City officers walked him out of the hospital that afternoon, he broke away, still in handcuffs, and ran into the woods. This video is the Lancaster Police Department's body camera footage of what happened next: a K9 handler and his dog working the creek behind the hospital, officers warning neighbours, and the search for a man who had been in custody less than twelve hours earlier. While police searched, Bagley climbed through an unlocked second-floor window of an occupied home on Pleasantville Road, surprised a mother and her children, and took her purse and the keys to the family's SUV. The vehicle was found abandoned near US 33 and Hamilton Road that evening. He was gone. WHAT HAPPENED NEXT He stayed free for nine weeks. On August 2, 2024, police said he kidnapped the same woman a second time from her home and drove her to west Columbus. She got away unharmed. On August 16, a U.S. Marshals task force found him hiding at a house in Lima, Ohio. A Franklin County grand jury indicted him on nine counts. In February 2026 he pleaded guilty to escape, robbery, aggravated burglary, failure to comply and failure to verify his address as a sex offender; the kidnapping and aggravated robbery counts were dropped as part of the plea. He was sentenced to a minimum of ten years in state prison (reported as 10 to 15 years by NBC4 and 10 to 14.5 years by 10TV, citing court records), with two to five years of post-release control. The two Grove City officers who were escorting him were later suspended for five days. The department said they had not applied the correct techniques. The woman he took is not named in this video.
