On February 7, 2022, officers initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and swerving between lanes. Radar confirmed the vehicle was traveling well above the posted speed limit, forcing officers to take evasive action to avoid a collision. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver initially fled before eventually pulling into a parking lot. During the stop, officers observed clear signs of impairment, including slurred speech, poor balance, confusion, and difficulty understanding instructions. The driver appeared unaware of her surroundings and admitted to drinking earlier. A child was also present in the vehicle at the time of the incident. The driver agreed to perform field sobriety exercises but was unable to complete them satisfactorily. When informed she was under arrest, the driver resisted by refusing commands and pulling away from officers. She later refused to submit to a lawful breath test but agreed to provide a urine sample. Officers also located empty alcohol bottles inside the vehicle. She was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence, Refusal to Submit to DUI Testing, Child Neglect, and Resisting an Officer Without Violence.
