A woman checks into a hotel and tries to pay with a credit card that was already flagged as stolen. She is calm about it. She has an explanation, then another one. It is a joint account. Her name is on the card. Jason is only an authorized user. Her cards were taken months ago. For every question the officer asks, she has something ready. On August 13, 2025, Clarkston, Washington police were called to the front desk of a local hotel over that card. Under Washington law, possession of stolen property is not just about proving the card was stolen. The state has to show she knew it was stolen, and her whole account is built around that one point. So the officer detains her instead of arresting her, then steps outside to make a call. That call is where the situation turns. Once she is in custody, officers go through what she was carrying. A backpack. A Walmart bag. Three purses. Inside was mail and financial paperwork connected to at least 26 different people, along with around 109 keys. Nez Perce County in Idaho already had her name tied to a separate case, a reported burglary out of Culdesac where mail, tools, and keys were taken from a home. She was already a suspect before she walked into that hotel. LaDonna Rae Maben, 39, of Clarkston was reported charged with second degree identity theft, second degree theft, and second degree possession of stolen property. As of the latest available reporting, investigators were still processing the recovered property and no court outcome has been confirmed. This breakdown walks through the stop, the story she gave, the phone call that gave officers probable cause, and how one flagged card turned into a much larger case. Bodycam footage shown here is public record released by law enforcement. The charges described were reported by police and news sources and are allegations. Nothing in this video should be read as a statement of guilt. This channel covers the law and procedure behind police footage for commentary and educational purposes.
