On February 5, 2023, Athens-Clarke County Police Officer Davis observed a Mercedes drive over the marked lane lines painted on the road. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and observed the odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. He asked the 20-year-old driver to step out of the vehicle. She was adamant that she had not consumed any alcohol. However, her performance on standardized field sobriety tests told otherwise. She was arrested for DUI and was transported to the downtown police substation. She submitted to an evidential breath test and the result was 0.16% BAC. On April 29, 2024, she pled guilty to DUI, underage DUI, and making an improper or erratic lane change. She was fined a total of $1,713, ordered to complete 40 hours of community service, and attend a DUI risk reduction program. In addition, she was placed on probation for 1 year.
