Pasco, Washington — The Pasco Police Department released body camera footage from an officer-involved shooting involving two homicide suspects, Juan and Miguel Montalvo. Detectives had identified the Montalvos—Miguel Angel Montalvo (21) and his cousin, Juan Manuel Montalvo (25)—as suspects in the murder of Luis Alexander Contreras (29), which occurred on April 29, 2020, at a home on E. Lewis St. in North Douglas. On May 17, 2020, the Montalvos returned to the same location, broke into the home, and opened fire on the occupants, seriously injuring two people. While fleeing, they carjacked a vehicle at gunpoint, kidnapped the owner, and locked him in the trunk. The victim managed to escape and report the incident to police. Detectives traced the suspects to a home in the 700 block of North 12. Surveillance was set up, with additional officers called to assist. Detective Joshua Glass and Officer Eric Fox positioned themselves in the alley behind the house. When the Montalvos saw police surrounding the home, they fled out the back, armed with handguns. Detective Glass and Officer Fox ordered the suspects to raise their hands, but they refused and opened fire. The officers returned fire, striking both suspects. One was fatally wounded, and the other was seriously injured, receiving medical treatment before being booked into the Franklin County Jail for murder. No officers were injured during the incident.
