On February 2nd, 2023, what began as a routine traffic stop over an expired temporary tag quickly turned into a violent arrest. When officers ran the driver — identified as Garrett — they discovered he had a suspended license and an outstanding felony warrant. After being ordered out of the vehicle, Garrett resisted, struggled with officers, and, according to police, reached for an officer's Taser during the fight. A child was inside the vehicle throughout the encounter, and the female passenger became involved as the situation escalated. 📜 Garrett faced charges connected to the felony warrant, resisting arrest, and the struggle over the officer's Taser. The female passenger was charged with resisting/obstructing. 📜 During the arrest, one officer acknowledged striking Garrett in the face while attempting to gain control.
