On 01/24/2023, at approximately 1621 hours, I was responding to assist another Trooper with a pursuit. While traveling on Celia Drive a white Chevrolet pick up truck ran a stop sign and almost impacted the passenger side of my vehicle. I turned around and signaled to the driver to pullover. I turned on my lights and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The driver turned the truck around and then jumped out of the vehicle. I stepped out of my patrol car and drew my state issued side arm as the driver was getting into the front passenger's seat of a white Nissan Altima. The vehicle began backing up. I returned to my patrol car as the vehicle sped by me and initiated a pursuit. The vehicle bore a Florida plate GIJJ74. I turned on my emergency equipment and began to pursue the vehicle. The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed in a residential area. The vehicle continued traveling on these side streets to include Celia Drive, Rosewood Drive, Empire Street, Hunt Road, Baker Street, and Harbin Road. The vehicle then turned left on to Floyd Road carelessly weaving between cars and running a red light. The vehicle turned into a private parking lot where it attempted to use a second exit to enter into a busy intersection. I attempted to stop the vehicle by using my front push bumper to make contact with the rear driver's side of the vehicle. The vehicle spun and then jumped over a curb still trying to escape. I went around the parking lot to stop the vehicle again by pinning the passenger's side with my front push bumper. The front seat passenger and original violator had already exited while the vehicle was moving and ran on foot. The driver also left the vehicle and ran on foot. I scanned the vehicle to ensure there were no other passengers then followed the driver and passenger. They were both seen running into an apartment building. Myself and another officer secured the front and rear entries until more officers arrived. With the permission of the residents we searched 3 of the 4 residences and did not locate the suspects. There was no answer on the fourth apartment. I returned to my vehicle and conducted a search of the interior of the suspect's vehicle, where there was a small, clear, plastic baggy of what was suspected to be crack cocaine, several decorated cellophane packages of a green leafy substance suspected of being marijuana, two large clear plastic bags of the same green leafy substance, three cell-phones, a small, clear, plastic bag that contained small round blue pills suspected of being MDMA, and a Glock model 23.40 Caliber pistol. The vehicle was released to Griffin and Griffin Towing. The vehicles, suspected drugs, pistol, and the suspected whereabouts of the violators were turned over to the Columbus Police Department's Narcotic Unit.
