On April 2, 2025, Athens Police Dispatchers advised officers that there was a Honda CRV in the Athens City Parking Garage and the occupants were smoking what appeared to be marijuana. Officer Riggs was able to pull behind the vehicle as it was exiting the garage. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 24-year-old woman. The woman admitted that her and the occupants were smoking marijuana. As a result, she was asked to step out of the vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. At the conclusion of the tests, she was placed under arrest for Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI). She was transported to the Athens Police Station, where she agreed to provide a urine specimen. Her charge and the outcome of her case is discussed at the end of the video.
