Officer Ragsdale stopped to investigate and requested backup after seeing several occupants inside the vehicle, some appearing to be juveniles. While speaking with the driver, Officer Ragsdale detected the odor of alcohol and began identifying everyone inside the vehicle. Investigators later determined the front-seat passenger had provided officers with a false name and was on juvenile probation for prior offenses, including auto theft, resisting law enforcement, and dangerous possession of a firearm. As officers began removing the occupants from the vehicle one at a time, investigators said the front-seat passenger, who had initially complied with instructions, suddenly reached down between his legs, ignored repeated commands to show his hands, then exited the passenger side of the vehicle and fired a handgun toward Officer Breneman. Officers Breneman and Ragsdale immediately returned fire, striking the 17-year-old boy. Additional officers arrived within a minute and rendered first aid until paramedics transported him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Crime scene investigators recovered the handgun the teen allegedly fired, along with a second handgun on the passenger-side floorboard that had been illegally modified with a fully automatic "switch." Authorities also recovered cocaine, vaping devices, and alcohol from inside the vehicle. A forensic examination concluded the teen died from multiple gunshot wounds, while video analysis determined he fired a single shot before both officers returned fire during an exchange lasting approximately three seconds. Following a months-long investigation by the Elkhart County Homicide Unit, detectives reviewed body camera footage, interviewed witnesses, consulted outside forensic experts, and conducted a forensic video analysis before submitting the case to prosecutors. Investigators concluded the evidence consistently showed the front-seat passenger fired first, prompting both officers to respond to what they reasonably believed was a deadly threat. Prosecutors determined the officers' actions were legally justified under Indiana's self-defense laws and announced that no criminal charges will be filed against either Officer Breneman or Officer Ragsdale. 🚨𝑇ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑛𝑒𝑙 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑣𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑠 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑥𝑡𝑢𝑎𝑙 𝑑𝑜𝑐𝑢𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑎𝑛𝑎𝑙𝑦𝑠𝑖𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑙 𝑝𝑜𝑙𝑖𝑐𝑒 𝑖𝑛𝑐𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑠 𝑢𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑝𝑢𝑏𝑙𝑖𝑐𝑙𝑦 𝑎𝑣𝑎𝑖𝑙𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑟𝑒𝑐𝑜𝑟𝑑𝑠. ⚠️𝑉𝑖𝑒𝑤𝑒𝑟 𝑑𝑖𝑠𝑐𝑟𝑒𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑖𝑠 𝑎𝑑𝑣𝑖𝑠𝑒𝑑 𝑑𝑢𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑠𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑜𝑢𝑠 𝑛𝑎𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑛𝑡.⚠️ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Special thanks to Shout-Out Supporters on Patreon: - 'DIY Solar Power with Will Prowse' - 'Zixuno' - 'HauntSync.com' - 'Rate A Creator with Omar Alkahlout' - 'Forever A Loner' - KHALID - Michael Griffin - John Doe - 'Twitchypowpow' - Lillian Daley - Tyrell Robertson - christine Grinter - 'The Evil Queen' - Benjamin Osgood - Gary Wilson - LJ - Brianna Wilkins - Elisabeth Craig - Bobby Roach - Cody Stephens - Troy Polansky - Tulla Belle - 'quadrakyiro' - "John B.
