It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: On October 5, 2024, at about 7:44 PM, Ewing Township police officers rushed to Grand Avenue near Summit Avenue. They answered a call about a car crash. Later, they learned a southbound 2023 Freightliner M2 truck got hit by a 2020 Chevrolet Traverse. The Chevy driver headed west on Summit Avenue. She turned north onto Grand. As she drifted into the wrong lane, she smashed into the truck. Her car's front end crumpled badly. The truck's rear axle took a hit too. Officer Hussein Mustafa got there first. He spoke to the Chevy driver and her three young daughters. The driver was Megan Fackler. Her girls were 8, 7, and 4 years old. Officer Phillip Culotta showed up soon after. He asked Megan to tell him what went wrong. She said she was driving to her brother's house with the kids. Megan acted confused. Culotta thought she might be under the influence. Medics checked her out. She refused a ride to the hospital. Once medics cleared her, they told Megan to step out and do sobriety tests. She paused at first. But she tried the exercises. Culotta began with the Walk and Turn test. Megan missed touching heel to toe. She forgot to count out loud. She turned the wrong way. Next came the One Leg Stand. Megan couldn't lift her foot long. She wobbled right away. Culotta saw the crash, open wine bottles in the car, and her failed tests. He arrested Megan for drunk driving. Her three kids went with her brother. He trailed the ambulance to the hospital. They towed her car for a 12-hour hold under John's Law. Culotta drove Megan to the station for booking. At the station, they read her the standard warning for drivers. She agreed to a breath test. Officer Lookner ran the Alcotest. It showed her blood alcohol at 0.371%. That's nearly five times over the 0.08% limit. Once ready, they sent her to Mercer County jail. Culotta gave Megan these tickets: Driving under the influence Reckless driving Careless driving No registration No insurance card He also charged her with three counts of child endangerment under 2C:24-4A(2).
