On Monday, January 29, 2024, police in Illinois responded to a residence regarding a domestic disturbance and a violation of an order of protection. Upon arrival, officers met with the complainant, who stated her 34-year-old son was intoxicated, "tearing apart the basement," and had struck her in the head with a box. A records check confirmed an active Order of Protection which prohibited the suspect from harassing the victim or being at the residence while under the influence of alcohol. The victim showed officers harassing text messages, and two witnesses inside the home confirmed that the suspect had been screaming profanities at his mother. When officers interviewed the suspect, they observed bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and the odor of alcohol. When questioned about his verbal abuse, the suspect asked the officer, "What? I can't say something mean?". He refused field sobriety tests and was subsequently taken into custody, charged with Violation of an Order of Protection for harassment and remaining at the residence while intoxicated.
