Bridgeport City Councilman Alfredo Castillo repeatedly invoked his elected position during a Fairfield, Connecticut traffic stop after police said he was traveling 45 mph in a posted 25 mph zone. What began as a routine speeding stop became a lengthy roadside confrontation after Castillo initially refused to provide his driver’s license and requested a supervisor. This video examines how Fairfield Police Officer Felix Gonzalez handled the encounter, including Castillo’s repeated references to his political position and his statement, “I make laws.” The traffic matter was later resolved in court. Castillo subsequently faced separate criminal charges involving alleged absentee-ballot violations in Bridgeport elections. In August 2026, Castillo rejected a plea offer and elected to proceed toward a jury trial in those separate cases. Those allegations are unrelated to the traffic stop shown in this video, and Castillo is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. This case study examines the incident using publicly released police bodycam footage, dashcam video, surveillance footage, cellphone video, 911 calls, dispatch audio, witness recordings, and investigative findings, when available. Analysis and commentary are provided from the perspective of a former federal agent, former law enforcement officer, and digital forensics examiner. Whether you are an aspiring law enforcement officer, a current officer, criminal justice student, attorney, first responder, or simply interested in public safety, these case studies are designed to highlight tactical decision making, officer safety principles, legal considerations, and practical lessons that can be applied to real-world law enforcement encounters. ⚠️ VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED ⚠️ This video contains real police bodycam footage from an actual law enforcement encounter. This content is presented for educational, training, legal analysis, news reporting, and public awareness purposes only. All individuals featured are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This content is not intended to shame, harass, or encourage harassment of any individual. Viewers are encouraged to approach these incidents thoughtfully, especially when mental health challenges, emotional distress, substance impairment, or other factors may contribute to rapidly evolving encounters.
