On June 25, 2023, Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers observed a vehicle driving to the left of the center line. They initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by an 18-year-old woman. She denied consuming any alcohol, but the troopers claim they could smell alcohol coming from the car. The woman was asked to step out of the vehicle to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which including reciting part of the English alphabet. After completion of the tests, the woman was arrested for Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI). She was transported to the Miami County Sheriff's Office, where she submitted to an evidential breath test (EBT). The result of the EBT was 0.193% BAC. She was charged with OVI, having a prohibited alcohol concentration, and driving in an improper lane of travel. On September 20, 2023, she pled guilty to an amended charge of Willful or Wanton Disregard of Safety of Persons or Property. She was fined $100, plus court costs, and she was placed on probation, which included attending a 3-day driver's intervention program and completing 6 weeks of alcohol counseling.
