During a welfare check related to a possible rape, officers spoke with two employees of a nearby business. When asked about the earlier call, one employee mentioned seeing a white male with a sledgehammer walking around the corner about ten minutes prior. Officers investigated and found a white male rummaging through a dumpster on the property. They attempted to make contact with the suspect, identified as Gregory Srock, and issued lawful orders for him to show his hands. Srock questioned the officers, asking "why." Officers noticed a screwdriver in Srock's left hand while he was inside the dumpster. Srock then jumped out towards the officers and picked up a sledgehammer lying next to the dumpster. The officers ordered him to drop the weapons. Srock moved towards a narrow alley, attempting to evade the officers while still armed and facing them. As the officers continued to approach, issuing commands to drop the weapons, I, Officer Nichols, repeatedly announced my intention to use my taser if he did not comply. I then successfully deployed my taser to subdue Srock, who was subsequently placed under arrest. A search incident to arrest revealed a capped, used needle in Srock's right front pocket. In his immediate area, officers found a beige fanny pack containing a sunglasses case with three more used needles, a glass pipe with residue, and a bag of a crystal-like substance. Under Miranda, Srock admitted the bag contained methamphetamine and that he used the needles to inject it. The officers tagged the weapons and paraphernalia as evidence and submitted the crystal-like substance for testing. Srock was evaluated by Med 4 at the scene and transported to SCJ on the listed charges. A Sergeant was present at the scene. ⚠️Note: Footage from this video was obtained via the Ohio Public Records Act (R.C. 149.43) All persons featured on the channel are to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
