On January 29, 2023, Orlando Police Officers were in a parking structure handling a disturbance call, when the driver of a Jeep came around a corner at a high rate of speed. The police indicated that the 26 year-old woman driving the Jeep almost hit 5 people. Officer Alvarez initiated a traffic stop on the Jeep and immediately noticed that the woman was impaired. Her passenger tried to justify it by saying the driver has "anxiety, depression, everything". The driver was asked to step out of the vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. She was eventually arrested for DUI. The police report shows she blew a 0.166% BAC (over twice the legal limit). On August 3, 2023, she pled guilty to the DUI charge and was ordered to pay $1,442.80 in fines and court costs. She was placed on probation for 12 months, had her driver's license suspended for 6 months, and was ordered to complete 50 hours of community service. Interestingly, she opted to "buy out" of 25 hours of community service at a rate of $10.00 per hour.
