Millburn Police investigated a report of two males acting suspiciously with a large suitcase, behavior officers noted was consistent with an Organized Retail Theft Crew. While speaking with the driver, Elijah McLendon, officers located a second suspect, Ololade Olaseinde, hiding inside the vehicle's trunk. Police recovered $240.88 worth of Ensure shakes in the trunk, which were confirmed to have been shoplifted from a nearby Walgreens in Short Hills. Both were arrested and charged with shoplifting and conspiracy. They were released on their own recognizance and scheduled to appear at Essex County Superior Court on October 1, 2024. These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. An arrest is not a finding of guilt: that’s something for a court to decide.
