A wildlife officer observes two divers spearfishing in a restricted area. The officer asks divers if they have speared any fish. A fisherman on a vessel admits to spearing several fish. They hand over a hog fish, a mangrove snapper, and a school master snapper. The officer measures all 3 fish and determines they are all under the legal size limit. The officer issues the spearfisherman a warning for undersized fish and a citation with a price tag ranging from $100-$500 for spearfishing in a restricted area. The fishermen were caught spearfishing in the Key Largo Existing Management Area, which, as of the date of this video, is a restricted zone for spearfishing. It is right off the Atlantic Coast of Key Largo and part of the National Marine Sanctuary. Know the law before you go spearfishing.
