Ty Thomas, 37, is accused of firing those initial shots and later leading police on a pursuit that ended with him being shot multiple times. Footage shows police attempt to contain and block Thomas’ truck at a dead end. The suspected driver then rams the police cruiser before multiple police officers open fire. Thomas was shot multiple times and suffered critical injuries. He’s been booked in the Miami County Jail since Oct. 15, online jail records show. Thomas remains booked in the jail on a $250,000 bond on charges of failure to comply with order of a police officer, discharging a firearm near a prohibited premise, and using weapons while intoxicated. Previously, Troy police identified the three officers who fired shots as Sgt. Matt Mosier, Officer Laura Blankenship, and Officer Alec Sears. Mosier and Blankenship remain on paid administrative leave, and Sears resigned to pursue other opportunities, said Tom Funderburg, City of Troy Director of Human Resources. The investigation has not been completed, and none of the officers have faced discipline, Funderburg said. A spokesperson for the Ohio Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the lead investigating agency on the incident, said the shooting investigation remains open and additional details were not released. Earlier on Oct. 7, before the officer-involved shooting, Piqua police had been contacted about Thomas making suicidal thoughts and Piqua officers had been requested to look for him.
