On October 26, 2023, a citizen called the Cuyahoga Falls police department about a possible intoxicated driver. Officer Elkins located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle weave in traffic lanes. The vehicle was being driven by a 21-year-old woman. Even though the woman denied consuming alcohol, she was asked to step out of the vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. At the conclusion of the tests, she was placed under arrest for Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence (OVI). She was transported to the police station, where she refused to submit to a breath test. She had a prior OVI arrest and conviction in 2022. She was charged with OVI (2nd offense), refusal to submit to testing, and weaving. On March 20, 2024, she pleaded guilty to the OVI (2nd offense) charge and was fined $600. She was also ordered to spend 18 days on electronic monitoring home arrest. Her license was suspended for 1 year, her vehicle was immobilized for 90 days, and she was placed on probation for 1 year.
