Body camera video and 911 call audio from the Fort Collins Police Services regarding the fatal officer involved shooting of Joshua Moore. [6:52] Body camera footage begins [7:25] "If you're drunk don't drive." [9:00] Officer involved shooting occurs soon Location: Fort Collins, Larimer County, Colorado, United States Date: January 12, 2019 (Saturday) Fort Collins Police Services: *WARNING: This video contains graphic content that may be disturbing to viewers** On January 12, 2019, Fort Collins 9-1-1 received seven calls regarding reports of a person actively shooting a gun in the 2600 block of Bradbury Court. A Fort Collins officer arrived in the area and located an armed male, later identified as 36-year-old Joshua Moore, in a confrontation with a female in the street. The investigation determined that Moore fired two shots, one of which caused a fatal gunshot wound to his own head. The officer fired four times, striking the suspect in the lower extremities. The officer was not injured. One person sustained minor injuries from a bullet striking a mirror when Moore was firing into the home during the initial call. The Eighth Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) investigated this incident. They determined that Moore and the female victim had gotten into a verbal argument earlier in the day. The victim and her family left the home, and when several people returned, they found that Moore had used a sledgehammer to damage the inside and left. Moore then drove back to the home and began firing a gun into the residence, prompting multiple 9-1-1 calls. The District Attorney determined that had Moore survived, he would have been charged with multiple felony offenses, including Attempted First-Degree Murder, First Degree Burglary, Felony Criminal Mischief, multiple counts of Felony Menacing with a Deadly Weapon, and Possession of a Weapon by a Preview Offender. Additionally, the DA indicated that Moore would have been subject to Habitual Criminal charges based on his extensive criminal history. The officer, who was placed on administrative leave following the incident in accordance with agency policy, has begun the return to duty process. “I’m grateful for Keith’s rapid response to this dangerous situation,” said FCPS Chief Swoboda. “I’m also extremely proud of the compassion and professionalism he showed while ensuring the victim’s safety. Not only did he run toward danger, he also demonstrated great care and composure immediately following a traumatic incident.” FCPS is committed transparency and, as such, is releasing a 9-1-1 call and body camera footage from this case.
