Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: At 4:34 a.m. on April 28, 2024, Deputy Patrick Blackwood spotted a 2011 Toyota Tacoma weaving across lanes on northbound Highway 87 near Yellow River Bridge. He hit his lights and pulled the truck over near Nichols Lake Road. He stepped out and met the driver, 21-year-old Lacey Edwards. While talking to her, he smelled alcohol and saw signs of impairment. Her passenger looked very drunk and had thrown up. Lacey first said she drank nothing. Later she admitted to drinking in Panama City. She said she headed home to Bonifay, far from Milton. He waited for Deputy Carey to show up and help. Then he started a DUI check. He asked her to do field sobriety tests. Deputy Blackwood began with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. He saw no smooth pursuit. Nystagmus jerked at max deviation and started before 45 degrees. Next came the Walk and Turn test. Lacey missed heel-to-toe steps. She took 27 steps before turning. Last was the One Leg Stand. She did not lift her foot right. He stopped the test early for safety. Her wild driving, impairment signs, and failed tests led Deputy Blackwood to arrest her for DUI. Lacey said her mom was a lieutenant at Holmes County Jail. They took her to Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office for booking. There, she gave breath samples. Tests showed .215 and .218 BAC, over twice the 0.08% limit. She faced DUI charges under 316.193(1)(B) and improper lane driving under 316.089(1).
