An Illinois landlord was sentenced to decades behind bars after a violent hate-crime attack left a young boy dead and his mother severely wounded. Police in Will County rushed to a home where six-year-old Wadee Alfayoumi was found stabbed 26 times, with his mother, Hanan Shaheen, discovered bleeding while calling for help. Investigators identified the suspect as 73-year-old Joseph Czuba, the family’s landlord, who prosecutors said became increasingly agitated over the war in Gaza and demanded the Muslim family move out before launching the attack. Czuba was later convicted of murder, attempted murder, and hate-crime charges, receiving a 53-year prison sentence. Watch the incident unfold in this episode of Law&Crime BodyCam.
