On February 10, 2025, a deputy observed a gold Chevy sedan driving erratically. After the vehicle initially failed to stop, the deputy located it again at a red light and attempted a traffic stop. The driver abruptly accelerated, braked in the roadway, then continued forward before taking off again. When the vehicle finally came to a stop, the driver—later identified as Bearne—refused to comply and repeatedly attempted to close the door on the deputy. She was removed from the vehicle and placed on the ground, during which time the still-running car rolled forward and struck another vehicle. The driver continued to resist as she was taken into custody.
