France's sunniest and driest province has turned into a summer-long inferno. This film follows the elite firefighters of the Beron department, one of France's best-equipped forces, as they train intensely for a fire season set to break all records. Experience the jarring moment when a training drill on the hills of X is suddenly interrupted by a real, rapidly spreading wildfire in Ool. Watch as fire trucks, too large for the narrow, steep paths, are forced to retreat, leaving firefighters to climb the unforgiving terrain on foot, hauling thousands of feet of hose to battle the raging flames. See the daring aerial maneuvers of Canadair pilots flying through dangerous turbulence to save a burning house. With most fires being man-made, the stakes are always life-or-death, and the enemy is often human error or outright negligence.
