On January 15, 2026, Las Cruces Police Officers responded to a call involving a running vehicle parked in the middle of the roadway. Officers made contact with a 25-year-old woman who was sitting in the driver's seat wearing only a bikini in freezing weather. She gave conflicting and incoherent answers to the questions asked. Officers asked her to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which were cut short due to her level of intoxication. She refused to provide breath samples and was transported to the Dona Ana County Detention Center, where she was booked on a charge of Aggravated Driving While Under the Influence. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
