Tera Chavez was found dead in her home in Los Lunas, New Mexico, in October 2007. Her husband, Levi Chavez, an Albuquerque police officer, reported discovering her body, suggesting she had died by suicide using his service weapon. However, the circumstances surrounding her death raised suspicions. Investigations revealed that both Tera and Levi had extramarital affairs, and there were indications that Tera was planning to leave the marriage. Levi was eventually charged with her murder, accused of staging the scene to appear as a suicide. In 2013, after a high-profile trial, Levi Chavez was acquitted of all charges.
