Sergeant Demoted After Bodycam Exposes False Police Report. A routine traffic stop quickly escalates after a young driver is pulled over for allegedly making a wide right turn. When the officer approaches the vehicle, the driver rolls up his window and explains it was done for his safety. The officer interprets this as suspicious behaviour and immediately orders the driver out of the car. As the situation unfolds, the driver's father begins recording the encounter from a nearby vehicle. The officer then accuses him of interfering and orders his arrest as well. The incident raises serious constitutional questions about Fourth Amendment protections against unreasonable seizure and the First Amendment right to record police activity in public. Bodycam footage and later reports reveal inconsistencies in the officer’s explanation of events. The encounter eventually triggered an internal investigation that resulted in disciplinary action.
