On March 15, 2025, Lakewood Police Officers observed a vehicle turn down an alley and the driver quickly turned off the vehicle's headlights. Officers followed down the alley and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle was being driven by a 28-year-old woman, who claimed to have picked up her intoxicated friend and was driving home. Officers suspected that the driver had also consumed alcohol, so she was asked to step out of the vehicle in order to conduct standardized field sobriety tests. At the conclusion of the tests, she was placed under arrest for Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI). She was transported to the Lakewood Police Station, where she submitted to an evidential breath test. The result was 0.19% BAC. She was charged with OVI, Having a Prohibited Breath Alcohol Concentration, and Failure to Use Headlights. On April 22, 2025, she pleaded guilty to the OVI charge. The other 2 charges were dismissed. She was fined $375 plus court costs, her license was suspended for 1 year, and she was placed on probation for 2 years.
